The Dr. part?
Yes, it means I got a PhD--in medieval French literature, to be exact!
I picked up a lot of useful skills during my time in academia. But the most useful one isn't related to the teaching I did, the research I published, or the awards I won.
At least not directly.
Because the most useful skill I honed, the one that actually got me across the PhD finish line?
It was the determination to get up every day and work my hardest on what I started right up until the moment I finished it. I did this on the good days, sure--but you can bet my butt was also in my seat on the rainy days, the tired days, and the days when I “didn't feel like it.” (Especially on the days when I “didn't feel like it.”)
So when I decided to use my writing skills to help underrepresented business owners make more money, I took the same approach. I not only honed my craft of conversion copywriting by studying under powerhouses Jo Wiebe and Betsy Muse, I also learned about all the other parts of running a business from mindset mentor extraordinaire Fabienne Frederickson. Through this combo, I learned where copy fits into a business–specifically, that it scales a business by acting as a lever that shortcuts your sales cycle and frees up your time.
